The Spector’s were invited to attend the April 2004 Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines Off Road Event which was held in the city of Bulucuc. We were honored to be so warmly received by so many Filipino Land Cruiser owners, family and friends.
The Philippines are made up of 7,107 tropical islands. The Land Cruiser is a very popular vehicle in this part of the world. These vehicles are used everywhere, in the mountains, on the farms, in the fields, and everyday city life. The Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines has a very strong membership. Bulucuc is a city near by Mt. Pinatubo. In 1991 Mt Pinatubo exploded, this disaster was just one of the important factors that started the local 4x4 Clubs. Out of pure necessity the Land Cruiser & Jeep owners became the search & rescue teams. The pyroclastic flow from the volcano had washed out bridges, roads and left many people trapped. The local four wheelers had the only means of transportation for weeks that turned into months. Years have gone by, the towns have rebuilt, and the Land Cruiser dependability has only grown more popular.
Aprils event was held in Balucuc, Phil Mutuc was this years chairman to organize this run. Good friends & fellow Land Cruiser club members made this a great event. This was the first time for the LCCP to be have in Balucuc. It was quite an affair, the entire town showed up, not to mention all the Cruiser owners who drove from long distances. We enjoyed meeting everyone, we had a great time & want to thank everyone for their warm hospitality. We hope this becomes an annual event!
