FJ Cruiser Event in Greenville SC Nov 17, 2005
Toyota sponsored another FJ event; this time the location was Greenville, South Carolina. There were about 300 registered people who had signed up to attend, but the day before the event the area was hit with a huge ice storm, the worst in 20 years.
This was to be an outdoor event, held in a historic building next to the river. The George P. Johnson Crew set up and supervised the entire event. There was a Toyota VIP dinner Friday night at "Larkin's on the River Restaurant", where we all dined and enjoyed a delicious meal. Special guests Ivan Stuart, Bill Burke; Joe Bacal, Jennifer Savary from Toyota Motor Sales, Linda Maugeri, Kevin Holt, Sophie Gonin from the George P. Johnson Co. and Marv & Kay Spector. We were all nervous about the next day's weather and how it would affect the number of people who could attend.
Saturday the event went as scheduled despite the weather and the power outages. We were all pleasantly surprised to have early arrivals, many who had driven over 100 miles to attend this event. We had a good crowd and everyone was excited to see the unveiling of the new FJ.
Everyone was welcome to sit in, touch, feel, and crawl inside and out of the four FJs on display. There was a lot of excitement in the crowd. Toyota catered this event with a great lunch. We want to thank all who attended. What a great experience. It was a pleasure to meet many of our friends and loyal customers in person. The Southern Hospitality was incredible. We welcome you all to stop in and visit us when you are in California.
The new FJ promises to continue the Legend of the Land Cruiser and keep mud in our blood. The release of the new vehicle is coming up very soon. Keep watching our website for constant updates.
