Specter now offers a Lift Kit for those customers who want new springs for their 40 Series, but do not want the great deal of added lift that our 4 Inch Lift Kit offers. This 2 Inch Lift Kit is a great way to eliminate your worn out stock suspension.
Each kit includes the following items: SOR Heavy Duty Leaf Springs - Quantity 4 - These multi tapered leaf springs are manufactured using the highest quality 5160H alloy spring steel. SOR’s Front Heavy Duty Leaf Springs have six multi tapered leafs per stack. The Rear Heavy Duty Leaf Springs have five multi tapered leafs per stack to provide a soft, flexible suspension, built to exacting tolerances. Explorer Pro-Comp Extended Shocks - Quantity 4 - Explorer Pro-Comp Shock Absorbers are a 10-stage, velocity sensitive valving that delivers a superior highway ride, maximum performance, and control off-road. Expanded fluid reservoir and twin tube construction increases fluid capacity up to 50%. This, combined with Pro-Comp's exclusive fluid, allows the Pro-Comp Shock Absorbers to perform consistently in all climates even under the most extreme conditions, reduces shock temperature, and protects internal components. Shock boots should be ordered separately when you purchase a lift kit. These boots keep the dirt out of the shaft and away from the shaft seal which reduces the possibility of premature shaft seal failure, thus longer shock life. Shock boots come in your choice of colors black, red, yellow, and blue. Anti-Inversion Plated Tri-Shackles - Quantity 4 - These stock length shackles are case hardened with grease fittings, and use stock size bushings (included). SOR High Quality 40 Series Heavy Duty Leaf Springs are designed by Specter and built by the premier leaf spring manufacturer in North America. Specter’s heavy duty springs provide a 2 inch - 2 1/2 inch of lift. These multi tapered leaf springs are manufactured using the highest quality 5160H alloy spring steel. Spring have large eyes using large diameter 1 3/8 inch bushings, and a large 3/8 inch center pin. SOR’s Front Heavy Duty Leaf Springs have six multi tapered leafs per stack. SOR’s Rear Heavy Duty Leaf Springs have five multi tapered leafs per stack to provide a soft, flexible suspension, built to exacting tolerances. Designed for the serious off-road enthusiast. Specter recommends the use of longer rear shackles for maximum wheel travel as not to bind the spring on the hanger, see page 288 for shackle options. This Torque Bar is ideal for those with altered suspension and “spring-over” suspensions. This Torque Bar prevents spring windup and possible breakage due to high torque loading or unloading while climbing steep grades, under high acceleration, over broken uneven surfaces, or with heavy loads. They also help eliminate the danger of spring or shock failure during sudden axle drops.
These Torque Bars are unique in their design with a removable interlocking pin that gives you needed maximum suspension travel. Simply by removing the pin, the Torque Bar is allowed to slide, giving increased freedom to the suspension. This Torque Bar is manufactured using the highest grade of steel and equipped with polyurethane bushings for long life under all driving conditions. Comes with installation hardware. Some drilling and welding is required for installation.

For those of you that have lifted vehicles or spring over vehicles with the need for longer axle bumpstops, Specter has them for you. We also know many of you out there build custom creations, so we carry an assortment of different sized bumpstops for all your needs. This is a convenient and affordable U-bolt package for 1961-7/80 40 Series vehicles. This kit includes quantity seven 9/16 inch x 6-3/4 inch U-bolts, quantity one 9/16 inch x 7-3/4 inch U-bolt, washers, and nuts.

When using stock leaf springs, it's important and recommended that you change the Leaf Spring Centering Pin to one that has a longer head. Doing this will compensate for the additional thickness of the shim and limit the possibility of slippage. Sold in pairs.

When a vehicle is lifted using an extended shackles, the steering caster angle changes from the stock -1 deg. angle. This creates undue wear on steering components (Knuckle Bearings, Tie Rod Ends, Steering Box). You may also notice your vehicle wander or follow grooves in the road (under inflated tires and other worn steering components will also cause wandering). This problem can be corrected by using Caster Spring Shims. In vehicles with V-8 and or automatic transmission conversions that require the rear drive shaft to be shortened, Caster Spring Shims can help relieve stress on U-joints by rotating the rear pumpkin up.
