The Heavy Duty 3 inch Suspension Kit is designed for additional clearance and is engineered for vehicles with heavy accessories like bull bars, winches, roof racks and extended range fuel tanks. The Comfort Ride 3 inch Suspension Kit is designed for additional clearance and are tuned for the weight of the vehicle without heavy accessories.

The lift kits come with: SOR Leaf Springs (qty 4), Pro-Comp Shock Absorbers (qty 4), Graphite Impregnated Polyurethane Suspension Bushings (qty 8 spring hanger bushings and 16 spring bushings), Leaf Spring Centering Pins (qty 2), Centering Pin Spacers (qty 2), U-bolts with Nut and washers (qty 8). The 3 inch lift kits come with qty 4 of SOR's One Inch Pit Bull Shackles, one set of 4.0 Degree Spring Shims, Rear Extended Stainless Steel Braided Brake Hose, and Front Extended Sway Bar Link Kit.

Shock boots should be ordered separately when you purchase a lift kit. Boots keep the dirt off the shaft and away from the shaft seal which reduces the possibility of premature shaft seal failure, thus longer shock life. Shock boots come in your choice of colors black, red, yellow, and blue see #286-399.

Vehicle Specific Options
60 & 62 Series with REAR sway bar as well as front require longer rear links. If you have a rear sway bar, order #287-602 for the extended rear link kit. Also consider replacing the rear sway bar bushings (see part #104-01B and #104-01C).

Additionally, you may consider updating the front brake hose with a stainless braided hose, part #086-31K-S. Also, increase the life of you new bushing with greasable shackle bolts. For 5/8" greasable shackle bolts for aftermarket shackles see #288-89.

NOTE: FJ62 with rear axle adjustable brake proportioning valve will need to modify the length of the control arm.

Due to numerous customer requests, Specter now offers a close to stock suspension system for FJ60 and FJ62 series gasoline powered vehicles. We call this suspension system the Grocery Getter. This kit is for FJ60 and FJ62 series vehicles with little or no added weight. This is a soft set of springs suitable for a light weight vehicle with no added weight from bull bars, winches, roof racks, extra tires and lots of heavy gear.

The Grocery Getter is perfect for the daily driver vehicle that needs to replace worn out stock springs. Designed for someone who does not want to "fall out of" a lifted truck every day, but wants new springs. This kit will not beat you up commuting 5 days a week and you can still go off road on weekends. This kit is built around a specially modified set of Old Man Emu springs and includes Pro-Comp Shock Absorbers with a 10 stage velocity sensitive valving, for superior highway ride with maximum performance and control on and off road. Comes with u-bolts, bushings, shocks, and greasable tri-shackles, it is a complete kit.

This suspension kit is offered two ways. The first kit, Grocery Getter I is very close to stock height utilizing stock height shackles. The second kit, Grocery Getter II has a little lift about 2 inches from longer shackles for a little larger than stock tire. When a vehicle is lifted using an extended shackles, the steering caster angle changes from the stock -1 deg. angle. This creates undue wear on steering components (Knuckle Bearings, Tie Rod Ends, Steering Box). You may also notice your vehicle wander or follow grooves in the road (under inflated tires and other worn steering components will also cause wandering). This problem can be corrected by using Caster Spring Shims. In vehicles with V-8 and or automatic transmission conversions that require the rear drive shaft to be shortened, Caster Spring Shims can help relieve stress on U-joints by rotating the rear pumpkin up. Sold in pairs. If your suspension modification requires the use of spring shims, be sure to purchase leaf centering pins with extended heads to compensate for the additional space added between the spring and spring perch on the axle housing. See part number #287-36.

This image shows the stock position of the axle housing.	When you raise a vehicle by adding longer shackles, the axle housing rotates downward changing the angle of the differential and steering components. Using the proper shim rotates the axle and steering components back to the correct position.	In the rear of the vehicle, extended shackles increase the operating angle of universal joints of the driveshaft. Use spring shims on rear leaf springs to rotate the front of the differential up and alleviate u-joint binding.
If your suspension modification requires the use of spring shims, be sure to purchase leaf centering pins with extended heads to compensate for the additional space added between the spring and spring perch on the axle housing. See part number #287-36.
