Where is the Timing Mark Located?

On F, 2F and 3F engines, the timing mark is located on the rear of the engine above the starter. It is 7 degrees before top dead center (BTDC)
Late Model 8 Cylinder & Diesel Engines

On later gasoline engines, the timing mark is located on the front of the engine. The mark is on the crank pulley and the gauge is cast into the block top and center to the pulley. The setting varies by motor. Check your service manual.
On Diesel engines B's and H's, the mark is on the crank pulley and the gauge varies in location and type. It could be a pin set into the Aluminum top center of the crank pulley or cast into the aluminum at the 1:00 position facing the motor. The setting varies by motor. Check your service manual.
