Specter Off-Road can now offer a Heavy Duty lifted set of Leaf Springs for your FJ45 Pickup. These FJ45 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs offer a 2 inch - 2 1/2 inch lift using stock shackles. With the addition of extended shackles the lift can be as great as 4 inches. The front springs have 1 3/8 inch diameter bushing and large 3/8 inch center pins. The front FJ45 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs feature six multi tapered leafs per stack. The rear FJ45 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs feature six multi-tapered leafs plus three bottom overload leafs per stack and has 1 1/8 inch diameter bushing and large 3/8 inch center pins. Rear springs require longer U-Bolts, see #287-34A. These FJ45 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs will enable you to accommodate larger tires and rims. Maximum wheel travel can be achieved by the use of extended shackles, see page 288. Bushings are not included with springs, be sure to order separately see page 289 for bushing listings. Specter's Suspension systems features high quality shot peened steel, increased leaf spring thickness, and extra leafs for added weight capacity. These springs have a higher spring rate for reduced stress and durability. These Heavy Duty Leaf Springs will improve handling, load carrying, and ride quality.These FJ55 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs offer a 2 inch - 2 1/2 inch lift using stock shackles. With the addition of extended shackles, the lift can be as great as 4 inches. These springs have stock diameter bushing eyelets and large 3/8 inch center pins. The Front FJ55 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs feature six multi leafs per stack. The Rear FJ55 Heavy Duty Leaf Springs feature seven multi leafs per stack. Caster Spring Shims
|
When a vehicle is lifted using an extended shackles, the steering caster angle changes from the stock -1 deg. angle. This creates undue wear on steering components (Knuckle Bearings, Tie Rod Ends, Steering Box). You may also notice your vehicle wander or follow grooves in the road (under inflated tires and other worn steering components will also cause wandering). This problem can be corrected by using Caster Spring Shims. In vehicles with V-8 and or automatic transmission conversions that require the rear drive shaft to be shortened, Caster Spring Shims can help relieve stress on U-joints by rotating the rear pumpkin up. Sold in pairs. If your suspension modification requires the use of spring shims, be sure to purchase leaf centering pins with extended heads to compensate for the additional space added between the spring and spring perch on the axle housing. See part number #287-36. Caster Spring Shims rotate the axle back to a stock tolerance:
This image shows the stock position of the axle housing. 
When you raise a vehicle by adding longer shackles, the axle housing rotates downward changing the angle of the differential and steering components. Using the proper shim rotates the axle and steering components back to the correct position.  In the rear of the vehicle, extended shackles increase the operating angle of universal joints of the driveshaft. Use spring shims on rear leaf springs to rotate the front of the differential up and alleviate u-joint binding. If your suspension modification requires the use of spring shims, be sure to purchase leaf centering pins with extended heads to compensate for the additional space added between the spring and spring perch on the axle housing. See part number #287-36. |

 When using stock leaf springs, it's important and recommended that you change the Leaf Spring Centering Pin to one that has a longer head. Doing this will compensate for the additional thickness of the shim and limit the possibility of slippage. Sold in pairs. |
