Caster Spring Shims

When you raise a vehicle by adding longer shackles, the axle housing rotates downward changing the angle of the differential and steering components. Using the proper shim rotates the axle and steering components back to the correct position.
In the rear of the vehicle, extended shackles increase the operating angle of universal joints of the driveshaft. Use spring shims on rear leaf springs to rotate the front of the differential up and alleviate u-joint binding.
If your suspension modification requires the use of spring shims, be sure to purchase leaf centering pins with extended heads to compensate for the additional space added between the spring and spring perch on the axle housing. See part number #287-36.

Leaf Spring Centering Pins
 When using stock leaf springs, it's important and recommended that you change the Leaf Spring Centering Pin to one that has a longer head. Doing this will compensate for the additional thickness of the shim and limit the possibility of slippage. Sold in pairs. |
